The historic Hotel Paso del Norte, has been serving discriminating travelers since it first opened in 1912. Designed by Henry C. Trost and built by wealthy El Paso businessman Zack T. White, the chateaux-style hotel set the standard for elegance along this frontier border region during the first half of the 20th century. European chandeliers, ornate mahogany carvings, black serpentine marble trim, Italian scagliola (a technique used to create architectural elements like columns and sculptures that resemble marble and stone inlays), and an enormous stained glass dome above the lobby designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany embellish the hotel.

The hotel, purchased and renovated in 2004 by Camino Real, a hotel group owned by the Mexican company Grupo Empresarial Ángeles, has hosted dignitaries and celebrities throughout its one hundred-plus years of service. Amelia Earhart, the film star Gloria Swanson, and Eleanor Roosevelt were among the many famous guests. Luis Terrazas, wealthy former governor of Chihuahua, rented the top floor of the hotel when he fled Chihuahua during the 1910 Mexican Revolution, bringing his family and twenty-seven servants with him. The hotel terrace was a favored spot to watch skirmishes between soldiers and the revolutionaries.

In 2016 the Meyers Group bought and renovated the historically renamed Hotel Paso Del Norte with local El Paso development partner Two Sabes LLC.

Today, the hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
