
The so-called 'First shot' of the Texas Revolution was fired in Gonzales, Texas on October 2, 1835. The South-Texas battle is iconic in Texas history for the flag, depicting a canon with the words 'Come and Take it' inscribed underneath.
The inaugural 'First Shot Festival' will take place October 1-2 in Alpine, Texas and will feature live music, great BBQ, cold beer and a bit of Texas history.
The event kicks off Saturday, October 1st at 4 p.m. at the Come and Take it BBQ, west of Alpine on Highway 90. It will last through midnight, with the events starting up on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Grupo de la Paz, Blan Scott Band, Craig Carter and the Spur of the Moment Band with special guest Trent Willmon, and the Doodlin’ Hogwallops.
