Big Bend Texas Mountain Travel Guide Seeks Publisher, Plans New Edition
The Big Bend and Texas Mountain Travel Guide, a publication supporting tourism in Far West Texas since 1984 is undergoing a change in ownership and is seeking a new publisher. Citing duplication in mission and leadership, the membership of the non-profit Big Bend & Texas Mountain Travel Association voted at its annual meeting on October 15 to dissolve its organization to be absorbed by the non-profit regional Texas Mountain Trail organization. The Board of Directors of the Texas Mountain Trail voted to accept ownership of the Association’s assets, including the printed travel guide, at its board meeting on October 17th.
“Our region has enjoyed the benefits of one of the strongest travel guides in the state, and we look forward to delivering the same quality to the same communities as in the past, including gateway and nearby communities outside the six county Texas Mountain Trail region,” said Beth Nobles, the Trail’s Executive Director. “We’re grateful for the leadership of the Big Bend and Texas Mountain Travel Association and past publishers, including Mercer Black of Marfa Publishing, for their stewardship of this tremendous regional asset.”
The Texas Mountain Trail has issued a request for proposal for publishers for the 2013-2014 issue of the Big Bend and Texas Mountain Travel Guide. RFP documents can be downloaded from the Texas Mountain Trail website, www.texasmountaintrail.com or be requested via email to: texasmountaintrail@gmail.com. Proposals will be due on November 15.
